The rule of thumb is, that about 100 strappings per shift the application of a machine makes sense.

However, in isolated cases it can be already recommendable with lower numbers of pieces to use a machine. For example if you have extremely unwieldy stack pieces or rough surroundings it can be better for a machine application than for the manual strapping.
